Histopathological sampling
Proctological examination often reveals tissue growths of unknown origin, inflammation, the exact origin and nature of which can only be determined by histological examination.
Even at the very beginning of the physical examination, when examining the skin around the anus, the examining physician may encounter a wide variety of skin lesions.
If the clinical picture does not allow the type of skin disease to be determined with certainty, or if a malignant tumour is suspected, a histological sample is essential.
Instrumental examinations, anoscopy and rectoscopy, may also reveal inflammatory lesions of unknown origin or suspicious tumours, which may require histological sampling for an accurate diagnosis.
The histopathological findings allow for prompt and targeted treatment of any disease detected.
